Commuter Challenge: Centrale vs. Garibaldi
Finding the perfect midway when you arrive at different stations.
One of you gets off the train at Stazione Centrale.
The other arrives at Porta Garibaldi.
They're only two metro stops apart, but where should you actually meet? Let's break it down.
Option 1: Meet at one of the stations.
The Easy Way: One person stays put, the other hops on the M2 (green line) for two stops. Simple.
The Downside: It's not technically "fair." One person has to make an extra journey, even if it's short. And train stations aren't always the nicest places to hang out.
Option 2: The Exact Midway - Isola
The Isola neighborhood sits directly between the two stations. It's the literal and spiritual midway point.
From Garibaldi, you can just walk. From Centrale, it's a short walk or a quick trip on the M3 to Zara, then M5 to Isola.
The Vibe: Isola is one of Milan's coolest areas, packed with amazing bars, restaurants, and cafes. A perfect destination.
Option 3: The "Meet on the Metro Line" Trick
A great strategy is to pick a cool spot on a metro line that's convenient for both of you.
You're both on the M2 line. So why not meet a few stops away in a great neighborhood?
For example: Meet at Lanza. It's a few stops from both stations and drops you right in the heart of Brera. A beautiful and fair compromise.
Commuting is tiring enough.
Your meetups shouldn't add to the stress.
Find a spot that's smart, fair, and gets you to the fun faster.
